Continuous Improvement

Voya’s culture of Continuous Improvement is both a philosophy and a management system that represent our way of working. We are passionate about the financial services industry and customer delight. We think strategically and partner to drive toward our common goals. We are open to new ways of thinking.

By demonstrating the five critical skills that support our culture of Continuous Improvement, you are already on your way to a successful career at Voya.

Leadership Development

Leadership development plays an integral role in shaping our company. With a culture of Continuous Improvement at our core, Voya empowers its leaders with the tools they need to succeed.

Our Management Development Program is designed to support employees during their transition to a managerial role. This program provides candidates with instructor-led courses that focus on topics such as employee engagement, situational leadership and how to sustain a positive work environment. In addition to learning how to manage employee development and performance, the program is designed in a “just-in-time” format — allowing participants to practice newly acquired skills immediately after training.

"Great companies and great leadership are inseparable. With effective leadership, values are established and embraced; cultures are built and then thrive; ambitious strategies are executed exceptionally well; talent is developed, and then flourishes; and financial targets are achieved. Together, these results give our customers confidence in our commitment to help them plan, invest and protect their savings – to get ready to retire better."
-Rod Martin, Chairman and CEO, Voya Financial

Voya’s Leadership Model

Our success as a company is a function of not just the goals we accomplish, but how we accomplish those goals. Voya identified nine leadership competencies that are critical to every Voya employee’s ability to achieve the company’s objectives. These behaviors are used to measure how employees achieved his/her results in everyday performance during mid-year and annual reviews.
