Profile Summary:

VMO Commercial Manager is directly responsible for the management of Managed Services Contracts with Information Technology outsourcing provider.  Also responsible for managing large numbers of third party provides and services contracts on behalf of the IT organization.

Profile Description:

  • Manages IT outsourcing contracts including: Performance Management, Financial Management, Contract Management, and Relationship management.  
  • Facilitates and maintains relationships between strategic vendors and internal resources, including IT stakeholders and executive leadership
  • Manages escalation and arbitration of relationship and operational issues if other avenues fail
  • Serve as a point of escalation for vendor issues and disputes, and drive those issues to resolution.
  • Manage the communication process with vendors, including what information should be communicated, when and by whom, to ensure that appropriate leverage is preserved.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders in the business to establish, prioritize and track strategic requirements to be communicated to vendors
  • Helps establish common goals between key stakeholders and strategic vendors
  • Ensures effective communication between the organization and each strategic vendor
  • Oversee changes through the Contract Change Control Process
  • Provide assistance to procurement teams to optimize the cost-effectiveness of negotiations and ensure compliance of negotiated agreements to established vendor management policies and practices (such as articulation of service levels and deliverables, etc.).
  • Approves and ensures compliance with policies, standards and practices surrounding an outsourcing agreement and other vendor contracts
  • Manages vendor relationship through sound vendor management principles and practices. 
  • Manages business risk through the appropriate use of contractual terms and dispute escalation
  • Work with legal representatives to develop and insert appropriate legal protections in contracts, as warranted.
  • Provides the source of knowledge on the agreement and proactively advises and educates others on agreement deliverables and obligations.​

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business/IT/Finance or a directly related field
  • 8-10 years of broad-based experience in contracting and strategic procurement of high complexity categories and/or projects.  Acts with a sense of urgency with ability to simultaneously lead multiple complex initiatives while consistently meeting timelines and milestones.
  • Strong organizational and financial management experience
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are required. 
  • Strong team building skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated success in negotiating, executing and managing IT contracts and staff
  • Proven ability to develop effective customer, supplier and contractor relationships.
  • Proven ability to manage large programs, interpret complex information and provide value-add analysis, as well as manage large contracts for a large organization
  • Experienced in business processes, strategic sourcing, managed service oversight, financials, etc.
  • Experienced in working in both a commercial and IT environment with third party vendors
