The Software Asset Management (SAM) Consultant is responsible for the process and execution of software asset related activities.  The individual maintains records and databases containing information regarding licenses, warranties and service agreements for the Voya’s licensed software. They also minimize organizational cost through partnering with IT Architecture to perform product standardization and tracking.  The SAM Manager oversees and participates in the execution of related procedures.  In addition, they periodically review processes and procedures to mature and keep in line with industry trends and best practices. 

In addition to providing oversight and process leadership, the SAM Manager will execute or oversee moderate to complex software asset related activities including configuration of discovery tools, integrations with external tools (Egg. Financial Systems), review of contracts to understand license entitlements, compliance reviews and license harvesting from devices. 

This role is the primary point of accountability to management, tower leads and other parties for the performance of the SAM processes, which supports the achievement of moderate to complex area and corporate goals.  The SAM Manager controls planning at a tactical level and execution of the Process activities and resources to ensure that established cost, time and quality goals are met.  The SAM Manager works with minimal supervision and is responsible for applying advanced SAM knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to processes and systems in order to meet or exceed the organizations ITSM Strategic goals. They facilitate and/or participate in and have input into the design/development of ITSM processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Sets standards and processes for ITAM business processes and communications changes to standards to appropriate parties Ensures governance in place for ITAM business processes Provides senior management process execution / adherence reporting Hold product owners accountable to adherence to Service Level Objectives and Service Level Agreements Develops ways to improve KPIs Oversees quality control of ITAM business processes Provides input during yearly budgeting process. Evaluates portfolio of services provided by vendors and recommends strategies for efficient use of resources, cost optimization and value maximizing. Drives escalations per defined best practices Hold support areas accountable for timely response to Software Asset related activities Monitors assets through lifecycle from acquisition to disposal. Other duties and projects as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Generally 7 or more years’ experience in an IT Asset Management practitioner role.  ITAM Certification or equivalent experience is a requirement of this position.  In addition to process knowledge, has specific knowledge as to purpose and benefits associated with ITAM processes and their interaction with other processes in the organization.  Good leadership abilities and organizational knowledge is necessary.  Familiar with process improvement methodologies.

  • Strong knowledge of Information Technology
  • Strong  written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven researching ability
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, IT or Finance
  • IT Asset Management and Discovery Tools experience
  • Experience interpreting licensing terms and conditions
  • ITIL and ITAM certifications a plus
