Profile Summary:

The Senior Enterprise Architect will be a key delivery and planning role for VOYA Financial. They will provide architecture support and lead designs for our hybrid cloud, Software as a Service (SaaS) and multi-site data integration strategies. The Senior Enterprise Architect maintains an enterprise perspective and focuses on strategic planning and establishing architecture definitions. They link the business mission, strategy, and processes of the organization to its IT strategy. They document this using multiple architectural models or views that show how the current and future needs of an organization will be met in an efficient, sustainable, agile, and adaptable manner.  They contribute to the development of standards and design patterns for development. 


The Senior Enterprise Architect will collaborate with security, data and infrastructure architects.  The will mentor and consult with solution architects.  They will review designs and provide feedback on enterprise alignment.  They partner with business analysts, project managers, quality analysts, development teams and shared technology services teams in the execution of a project. This role defines architectural options and documents tradeoffs, risks and considerations for project execution.  This is a technical role with a strong client facing focus, providing leadership and technical competence to deliver excellent client solutions that adhere to Voya defined standards.  Links the business mission, strategy, and processes of the organization to its IT strategy, and documents this using multiple architectural models or views that show how the current and future needs of an organization will be met in an efficient, sustainable, agile, and adaptable manner.  They closely monitor technology trends and interpret potential impact or application for Voya.



Profle Description

Contributes to architecture governance, technology standards and architecture frameworks. Helps to formulate and define technical scope and objectives of projects and technology initiatives.


Responsible for end-to-end architectural integrity of our hybrid cloud, Software as a Service (SaaS) and cross-site data integration strategies and the relationship with other projects within the context of a given program.


Maintains strong knowledge and understanding of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence.


Illustrates technical proficiency in hardware and systems software, as well as experience implementing packages and working with vendors.

  • Understand latest architecture, technology, solutions, and industry trends
  • Serve as part of the team which is responsible for high level architecture and design of project solution
  • Serve as the key customer-facing technical resource and focus on systems rather than on specific technologies
  • Consider various proposals of technical solutions based on customer requirements, product knowledge and system processes
  • Conceptualize solutions that address customer opportunities and issues
  • Evaluate business, information, application, and technology views of the solution approach and identify risks
  • Participate actively on reviewing end-to-end solution processes
  • Participate actively on preparing technical documents including time estimation and implementation requirements
  • Contribute to  Senior Enterprise Architecture standards; advocate the adoption of standard project frameworks, methodologies, and procedures
  • Contribute to peer reviews, technical audits, and technology standards processes


Education and Experience

Indicate the education level, previous experience, specific knowledge, skills and abilities required to meet the minimum entry-level requirements for this position.  This may include special skills, licenses, certificates, etc. 

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • 5+ years of progressive experience as an architect
  • 4-6 years of experience in other technical roles such as developer or system analyst
  • Knowledge of software development practices involving development and testing of applications required
  • Experience leading strategic technology framework development, capability mapping, and operating model development assignments
  • Successful background partnering with stakeholders to develop architecture frameworks that align strategy, processes, people and technology with overall business objectives. 
  • Significant experience establishing best practices and guidelines for selecting, developing, and implementing SaaS, cloud and multi-site data integration strategies within an enterprise
  • Working knowledge of implementing applications on cloud enabled platforms
  • Familiarity with public & private cloud providers and their capabilities
  • Working knowledge of data management concepts and architectures
  • Knowledge of network engineering concepts and architectures
  • Knowledge of security controls and basic security architecture patterns and practices
  • Strong consultative skills at a cross functional level
  • Analysis level UML, activity diagrams, business use cases, business rules, and system level features
  • Experience in enterprise broad based platform and technical exposure and  complete software development lifecycle perspective
  • Experience with multiple Architecture frameworks and project delivery methodologies(i.e. Agile or Waterfall)
  • Very strong  presentation & communication skills: Ability to translate and clearly formulate technical issues
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to reach well-reasoned solutions and solve problems through a thoughtful process of analyzing data.

  • Business Acumen: Appreciate and understand the financial services industry. Prior experience with financial services, retirement, insurance, or medical records industry highly desirable
