  • Profile Summary:

    Primary responsibility includes new business underwriting and contract issuance of retirement plans for Corporate and Tax Exempt Market Plan Sponsors transitioning their retirement plan to Voya as well as other duties as assigned. Also plays key role in plan installation to required business systems.

    Profile Description:

  • The New Business Underwriter (NBU) is responsible for the review of new business paperwork submitted for Defined Contribution and Tax Exempt plans (i.e. individually designed and prototypical defined contribution retirement plan document, Plan Services Agreement, as well as Plan Digest for TPA business) to identify our ability to support prospective retirement plans.
  • Work with internal and external contacts to determine good order.
  • Work with sales representatives and internal business partners to resolve NIGO issues.
  • Prepare signature ready plan document in accordance with client’s specifications.
  • Technical resource for internal partners consistently providing efficient and complete answers to plan document inquires.
  • Participate in conference calls with advisors and clients providing technical expertise for plan document restatement, revisions and implementation.
  • The NBU ensures the accurate and timely plan installation, working closely with the Client Transition Manager to meet key milestones.

Education & Experience:

  • BS Degree or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in underwriting of retirement plans
  • Strong knowledge of Defined Contribution products and Tax Exempt products
  • Demonstrated analytical/problem solving skills
  • Series 6 preferred or needs to be obtained within 6 months of start date
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical issues
  • Attention to detail
  • Will require overtime during busy periods ( last quarter – Nov and Dec in particular)
  • Ability to handle multiple issues simultaneously
  • Works well in an environment with deadlines and scheduled deliverables
