  • Profile Summary:

    The New Business Underwriter (NBU) primary responsibility includes preparation and interpretation of plan documents and contract issuance associated with onboarding of qualified retirement plans to Voya.
     

    Profile Description:

  • Responsible for the review of new business paperwork submitted for Corporate and Tax Exempt plans (i.e. Plan Document, Plan Service Agreement, as well as Plan Digest for TPA business) to identify our ability to support perspective retirement plans.
  • Review individually designed and prototypical defined contribution retirement plans to approve for conversion to the Voya 401(k), 457(b) and 403(b) retirement plans.
  • Prepare signature ready plan documents in accordance with client’s specifications including volume submitter plan documents & amendments.
  • Conduct protected benefit review for mergers and acquisitions, provided analysis, recommendations and solutions to complex qualified plan issues.
  • Create participant communication materials such as Summary Plan Description and notices.
  • Technical resource for internal staff consistently providing efficient and complete answers to plan document inquires.
  • Working with sales representatives and internal business partners to resolve NIGO (not in good order) issues.
  • The NBU ensures the accurate and timely plan installation to required business systems, working closely with the Client Transition Manager and Sales to meet key milestones.
  • Participate in conference calls with advisors and clients providing technical expertise for plan document restatement, revisions and implementation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • BS Degree or equivalent experience
  • 2-4years of experience in Retirement Service
  • Detail oriented professional with superb analytical and problem solving skills

  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical issues

  • Strong organization, multi-tasking and time management skills
  • Works well in an environment with deadlines and scheduled deliverables
  • Series 6 preferred or needs to be obtained within 6 months of start date
  • Will require overtime during busy periods ( last quarter – Nov and Dec in particular)
