Profile Summary

The Director of IT Asset Management (ITAM) is responsible for cross company collaboration and leadership, ensuring that all IT processes related to the life cycle of Software and Hardware  assets are documented, measurable and effective at minimizing risk. Position is accountable for the planning, execution and long-term strategy to establish a best in class operation that supports and aligns to Voya strategic objectives. This leadership position will reside in IT - Technology Services, and will report to the AVP Technology Services & Head of Service Management. This role will work closely with leadership across multiple organizations including, Infrastructure, Application LOBs, Sourcing, Legal, Architecture and others.  

Profile Responsibilities

  • Leads the Software Asset Management function for Voya. Responsible for the management of software assets through their full lifecycle, tracking assets throughout their useful life, from request to retirement, ensuring adherence to best practice policies and procedures.
  • Partners closely with Finance, Sourcing, Legal and Subject Matter Experts (SME), to obtain and understand core information required for the effective management of IT Assets. A sampling of activities include, but are not limited to, supporting contract maintenance renewal (and rationalization) activities, software request processes and contract compliance validation.
  • Manages the discovery, collection and normalization of information necessary to provide effective Software Asset Management (SAM) support to the company.
  • Coordinates software audit requests and required reporting, including vendor compliance positions, to ensure license adherence.
  • Accountable for the recording, monitoring, and reporting of both hardware and software licenses to ensure compliance with vendor contracts.
  • Establishes, maintains and distributes reports to senior leadership and key stakeholders related to contract compliance, process adherence and audit position and status.
  • Manages day-to-day team activities and deliverables to ensure on time delivery and achievement of stated objectives for both operational and project related goals.
  • Provides coaching and oversight to the SAM team in performing analysis used as input into complex Effective License Position (ELP) generation.
  • Trains and mentors team members in their development of required subject matter skills and industry knowledge.
  • Evolves  existing SAM processes to align to industry best practices
  • Represents Software Asset Management as a leadership member of a corporate–wide IT Asset Management Practice. Provides project status updates as applicable.  

Knowledge and  Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or other related field; Master’s Degree preferred and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Professional Asset or ITIL certifications a plus
  • Ten+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience; Prior IT Asset Management experience required
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated performance leading projects; displays good judgment in anticipating project needs
  • Proven track record of delivering complex IT services to a broad customer base, while leading and managing through cultural change as necessary to achieve performance excellence.
  • Synthesize program progress and results into repeatable actions
  • Provide value and risk guidance to leaders on priority of planned activities
  • Track record of being 'trusted advisor'
  • Demonstrates a bias for action and passion for success
  • Supervises and directs the work of other
