Profile Summary:

This position plays an integral role in product and pricing review for Employee Benefits including reinsurance agreements.  The role also has responsibility actuarial metric reporting.  You will report directly to the Retirement and Employee Benefits head of Risk Reporting and Review.


Profile Description:

  • Lead the team responsible for performing risk analysis on new product development and underwriting execution.  Collaborate with Product/Pricing team to analyze risks and ensure proper risk mitigants are in place.

  • Support Product/Pricing teams in their respective Annual Rate Reviews including modeling, expense allowables derivation, and ensuring expected profit margins achieve target metrics.​

  • Collaborate with Pricing/Underwriting to update authority limits as warranted.

  • Produce, report, and perform analysis on actuarial metrics including EAR/CAR, Economic Capital, Fed Stress Tests, and IRR.

  • Provide key support for annual assumption updates and other product development initiatives through review of experience.

  • Serve as Secretary of Employee Benefits risk committee working with to Chief Risk Officer to establish agenda and coordinate presentations.

  • Ensure effective controls and documentation.

  • Identify areas for improvement in efficiency, controls, analysis, and automation.

  • Collaborate with a variety of business partners to enhance deliverables: Valuation, Asset/Liability Management (ALM), IT, Product, Pricing, ORM, and Finance.

  • Conduct effective planning to ensure timely completion of deliverables.


Knowledge & Experience:

  • FSA with 7+ years of industry experience.

  • Several years of experience and demonstrated familiarity/comfort working with complex financial products.

  • Strong knowledge of employee benefit products and their risks, including actuarial and market risks, financial reporting, statutory accounting, and risk management strategies.

  • Solid understanding of risks to the business and drivers of financial metrics.

  • Effective communication skills; presents ideas and data completely and clearly to individuals from different backgrounds and functional areas.

  • Experience with providing leadership driving projects from initiation to completion in a cross-functional team environment

  • Self-starter; a bias for action and a passion for success

  • Embraces personal accountability for commitments and results; is willing to take ownership and be regarded as an expert.

  • Ability to handle shifting priorities; flexible & organized

  • Detail oriented with solid analytical skills.

  • Experience with computer programming languages (e.g. VBA, C++, SAS), and/or SQL databases preferred.
