Profile Summary


Voya Financial in Downtown Minneapolis is looking for a Director to over see the Stop Loss Claims business unit. The Director will be responsible for a team of 15 individuals and for the overall strategy of the unit. Our ideal candidate is going to be someone who is well versed in the world of Stop Loss and has a proven track record of building and leading teams within that space.


Profile Description

  • Establish Operational Strategy for Stop Loss Claims and Cost Containment Operations in support of business unit(s) priorities
  • Effectively leverage strategic service provider to optimize efficiency while delivering on customer requirements.
  • Drive execution of strategic initiatives and achieve targeted outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Maintain strong risk management discipline in Claims review process
  • Utilize Continuous Improvement Management system to deliver results and maintain high performing culture
  • Manage team of claim examiners and oversee control processes to ensure timely and accurate payment of Stop Loss claims.
  • Hire, develop and motivate team members to be successful in an environment that expects continuous improvement.
  • Manage the capacity within the team to meet customer demand, while constantly seeking to improve productivity.
  • Ensure department objectives are aligned to key strategic objectives for the business unit as well as the Company overall.
  • Manage the department budget to ensure cost effective claims management and oversee department administrative matters.
  • Oversee the settlement of certain large, sensitive claims.  Oversee responses to state insurance department inquiries, which are prepared by staff members.

  • Proven ability to develop strategy for large organization
  • Strong track record of successful execution
  • Prior Stop Loss claims experience
  • Managing outsourcing relationships
  • Continuous improvement (lean)
  • Audit and financial background
  • Technology savvy
  • Ability to partner with lines of business to support their priorities
  • Group Benefits experience preferred
  • Strong influencing and communication skills required
