​The Data Solution Architect Consultant role will be a key delivery role focusing on a portfolio of programs or large projects. The data solution architect consultant is accountable for proactively and holistically leading or supporting data management and data architecture activities that create deliverables that guide business models, people, process, organizational change, and technology investments in response to disruptive forces and toward achieving targeted business outcomes. This individual is responsible for leveraging technology to enable the organization's future-state business capabilities, which can enable or alter business processes or practices that, in turn, drive the organization's targeted business outcomes.
As a Data Solution Architect Consultants you must be capable of practically applying existing, new, and emerging technologies to new and evolving business and operating models. Conversely, they must be able to understand, monetize and operationalize new technologies.  This individual is responsible for facilitating the construction of business models, which may include business capabilities, functions and processes and organization design, as well as working collaboratively with business strategists, process owners and subject matter experts.  The role focuses on business technology strategy and targeted business outcomes — clarifying strategic intentions; identifying business outcomes; exploring implications, impacts and risks; and addressing stakeholder questions

  • Identifies key data management issues and concerns and develops strategies to address them.
  • Embeds data modeling and database design into the project life cycle
  • Provides enterprise blueprints for database architecture, access layer designs, data movement, and database deployment
  • Manages the proliferation and duplication of data
  • Identifies and qualifies data quality tools and processes
  • Recommend, design, and build self-service data discovery capabilities.
  • Research, identify and internally market enabling data management technologies based on business and end-user requirements.
  • Portfolio of programs and / or large project focus.
  • Lead business and technology innovation that drives the organization's top and bottom lines.
  • Engage key business stakeholders to facilitate both strategy and innovation planning.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders involved in business technology strategy and innovation to develop an IT investment roadmap.
  • Review the organization's business technology strategy and how the organization currently approaches innovation.
  • Collaborate with application architects, developers, and key organizational stakeholders to define a strategic plan for leveraging appropriate data management technologies.
  • Collaborate in the development of the enterprise strategy, including environmental analysis, opportunity identification, value cases and business innovation portfolio development.
  • Collaborate to define a clear plan and governance for ensuring the business architecture work is in lock step with the other enterprise architecture viewpoints.
  • Provide strategic consultation to assigned partners in defining or designing business capabilities, processes, functions and organizational structures, as well as in researching, identifying and internally marketing, selling and enabling technologies based on business and end-user requirements.
  • Collaborate on enterprise architecture development, including business architecture, information architecture, application portfolio and technical architecture.
  • Facilitate agreement on organizational work models and processes to meet business requirements.
  • Consult on business-facing portfolio of programs and large projects, and maintain knowledge of their progress.
  • Seek ways to apply new technology to business processes with a focus on modernizing our approach to data management.  Research and provide information on technical trends and competitors' practices relevant to assigned  partners.
  • Assess near-term needs, using structured interview processes, to establish business priorities. Consult with technical subject matter experts, and develop alternative technical solutions. Advise on options, risks, costs versus benefits, and impact on other business processes and system priorities.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Experience with leading technologies for Information Management in the areas of RDMBS, ETL, metadata management, big data, visualization and analytics.
  • Experience with Azure and/or AWS Data Services and migration tools
  • Strong experience in multiple areas of Data and Information Management required:  architecture, modeling, quality, governance, warehousing, business intelligence, data access, big data.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, information systems or related discipline, or equivalent and extensive related project experience.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience as a data architect.
  • 5+ years of business or IT experience with a direct responsibility for strategy formulation and/or translation, business analytics, and program management, application development , middleware, database management or operations.
  • Knowledge of existing, new and emerging data management technologies and being able to apply them to new business designs and business models.
  • Analytical and conceptual skills; ability to create original concepts and theories for a variety of programs and projects.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplined, high-performance work teams.
  • Expert level skills in leading program management efforts involving the coordination of resources and goals across multiple related projects.
  • Experience developing and monitoring delivery of efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems.
  • Statistical and information analysis skills (a plus).
  • Organizationally savvy, understanding of the political climate of the enterprise and how to navigate obstacles and politics.
  • Practical ability to communicate, influence and persuade – both business and IT leaders as well as peers.
  • Use the language of business leaders and join the conversation that's taking place.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a high-level of business partner trust and confidence.
