**The position is open to reside in either our Jacksonville, FL, Windsor, CT, or Braintree, MA location**

The solution architect consultant role will be a key delivery role for VOYA Financial focusing on a portfolio of programs or large projects as well as the line-of-business (LOB) or business unit (BU) applications. The solution architect consultant is accountable for proactively and holistically leading or supporting architecture activities that create deliverables that guide business models, people, process, organizational change, and technology investments in response to disruptive forces and toward achieving targeted business outcomes. This individual is responsible for leveraging technology to enable the organization's future-state business capabilities, which can enable or alter business processes or practices that, in turn, drive the organization's targeted business outcomes. 

Solution architect consultants must be capable of practically applying existing, new, and emerging technologies to new and evolving business and operating models. Conversely, they must be able to understand, monetize and operationalize new technologies. The individual in this role develops deliverables that are valuable to the business, including business capabilities, business requirements and workflow. This individual is responsible for facilitating the construction of business models, which may include business capabilities, functions and processes and organization design, as well as working collaboratively with business strategists, process owners and subject matter experts. The role focuses on business technology strategy and targeted business outcomes — clarifying strategic intentions; identifying business outcomes; exploring implications, impacts and risks; and addressing stakeholder questions.   

Profile Description:

  • Ability to lead a cultural change to adopt cloud
  • Outspoken technical leader who can work with various groups to understand and engage on the move to cloud computing
  • Work with Enterprise and Application Architecture to coordinate a cohesive cloud architecture
  • Experience migrating from a legacy on-prem environment into a public provider
  • Able to communicate cloud computing standards to the other architects within Voya
  • Work with application architects on defining the best type of cloud computing system for their application ( i.e. IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
  • Develop a Cloud Strategy to Implement the architecture
  • Advise the cloud team on appropriate skills
  • Knowledge of services across the major cloud vendors (Amazon, Microsoft, Google)
  • Ability to identify and mitigate risks related to moving to a public provider
  • Work with finance to setup a cloud costing model
  • Provide guidance to an outsource vendor on roadmap for cloud computing services
  • Guide Voya on best practices for operating a cloud environment at scale
  • Experience with Application Architecture
  • Experience with common industry security practices
  • Broad industry knowledge of emerging cloud practices (i.e. SRE)

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, information systems or related discipline, or equivalent and extensive related project experience; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience as an architect.
  • 5+ years of business or IT experience with a direct responsibility for strategy formulation and/or translation, business analytics, and program management, application development , middleware, database management or operations.
  • Expert level experience in one or more of the following areas: strategic planning, leadership, business relationship management and business process management.
  • Expert level knowledge and understanding of different types of business and operating models (existing, new, emerging and hybrid).
  • Expert level knowledge of existing, new and emerging technologies and being able to apply them to new business designs and business models.
  • Expert level in-depth experience with business transformation and process redesign methods.
  • Expert level knowledge in all aspects of designing and constructing business processes, functions and organizational structures.
  • Expert level knowledge of facilitation and organization change management.
  • Expert level analytical and conceptual skills; ability to create original concepts and theories for a variety of programs and projects.
  • Expert level experience leading multi-disciplined, high-performance work teams.
  • Expert level skills in leading program management efforts involving the coordination of resources and goals across multiple related projects.
  • Expert level experience developing and monitoring delivery of efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems.
  • Expert level knowledge of finance, accounting, valuation and metrics development.
  • Expert level statistical and information analysis skills (a plus).
  • Organizationally savvy, understanding of the political climate of the enterprise and how to navigate obstacles and politics.
  • Practical ability to communicate, influence and persuade – both business and IT leaders as well as peers.
  • Use the language of business leaders and join the conversation that's taking place.
  • Expert level ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs.
  • Expert level ability to establish and maintain a high-level of business partner trust and confidence.
