Profile Summary: 

Voya Financial in Minneapolis is looking for a Customer Focused Claims Supervisor to work in our Life Insurance Claims business unit. This role will have the supervisor reviewing complex claims and/or related situations, assisting in making decisions that may require deviating from normal guidelines.  The Supervisor must use discretion in decision-making, ranging from contract interpretation to benefit amounts to be paid.  Has day-to-day interaction with employees and acts as employees’ first point of contact. 

Profile Description  

  • Assist in managing team.
  • Review complex claims and/or situations and make informed decisions that may require judgment by providing direction on life claims
  • Responsible for providing direction, developing, training, and mentoring less experienced claims staff, including completing audits and providing feedback
  • Ensure claim suspense accounts for accurate claim processing, appropriate financial reporting, and controls
  • Assist in developing and implementing improvement processes
  • Quality Team Audits
  • Refer cases to legal and/or may represent company in legal matters surrounding claims decisions
  • Participate and/or facilitate various department and/or company project and special initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Experience: 

  • Previous experience in process or system improvement projects
  • Previous Life Insurance experience is strongly preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Expert knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Supervisory experience preferred
