Position Summary

As the Director of Voluntary Product Solutions, you will be empowered to lead the product and solution development, roadmap and sequencing, and delivery efforts to help successfully grow the EB Voluntary business.  You will be part of the cross-functional Market Solutions team, charged with creating the long-term market strategy to deliver customer value and driving profitable growth.  You will work cross-functionally with Customer Solution, Sales, Actuarial, Marketing, and Operations, and will have 1 direct report.

Position Description

  • Supports and provides input to the Voluntary Market strategy, and directly translates the market strategy to the voluntary solution strategy, roadmap, and portfolio; evangelize and galvanize cross-functional teams along a common vision and path
  • Proactively seek, evaluate, and leverage insights from VOC / VOM, and market research (data, facts, logic) to ensure continued competitiveness of the solution strategy, roadmap, and portfolio
  • Evaluate new opportunities and concepts against guiding strategies for potential solution development and execution
  • Support and manage the entire voluntary solution development process, overseeing all voluntary customer solution initiatives
  • Define the go to market strategy for each voluntary customer solution, including development of the product positioning and messaging that differentiates the solutions in the selected market.  Sets the tone for ongoing training, sales readiness, and support required to deliver the desired success.
  • Develop, maintain, and evangelize the voluntary solution customer Value Proposition
  • Develop a vision of how the voluntary solutions can be leveraged to overall Voya and EB success
  • Support broker relationship and sales activities by participating in broker meetings and best & finalist meetings
  • Understand and support technology (ben admin, enrollment, etc) partners and ensure our solutions align for mutual success
  • Partner with marketing and customer experience to create holistic customer value approach and communication systems
  • Coordinate with other Product Solution owners on any cross-value opportunities
  • Supports enrollment and customer experience strategies to enhance participation and volume purchase of voluntary products.
  • Partners with IT to optimize technology opportunities supporting EB’s Voluntary business, such as technology partner and enrollment platform linking


  • Direct management and coaching of Voluntary Product Manager, and other staff as directed
  • Responsible for hiring, leading, developing and managing performance of those reporting to this position
  • Establish RACI for both direct reports, and those supporting initiatives to align against clear expectations
  • Creates a positive and trustworthy work environment by setting and managing against realistic expectations, being and holding individuals accountable, and through transparent actions and communications

Knowledge and Experience

  • 7+ years direct voluntary market experience in product and solution development, deployment, and management
  • Track record of successful leadership and driving results through cross-functional teams
  • Exceptional communication, influencing and partnership skills
  • Understands the insurance business and voluntary market end to end throughout the value chain and customer journey
  • Ability to work within ambiguous situations while working toward clarity
